American Politics News: What Happened to Kanye West’s Presidential Ambitions?

In American politics news cycles; events like West’s quixotic campaign are not all that uncommon, and they are often also associated with requests for money.

If you went to Kanye West’s campaign website; for example, you would find baseball hats available for $60 and campaign hoodies for $160.

West’s slogan was “YES!” and when he sat down for an interview with Forbes in July; West did not have much to say about the political and social issues facing the United States; but instead said that he wanted to restore a sense of “fun” to the White House.

He also said, “Let’s get past all the racism conversation; let’s empower people with 40 acres and a mule, let’s give some land, that’s the plan.”

The connections between West and Republicans, including Donald Trump, hurt his campaign from the beginning.

In August; news reports alleged that Republican operatives were aiding West’s campaign in an attempt to siphon off African-American voters from supporting former Vice President Joe Biden; the currently contested president-elect.

Ultimately, West made it onto the ballot in 12 states and picked up about 60,000 votes nationwide. So while that is a significant number of people; it pales in comparison to the more than 140 million voters who either chose Trump or Biden. The campaign of Libertarian candidate Jo Jorgenson had the most support of any outside the Republican and Democratic parties.

So what’s next for West in American politic news? Well, he tweeted out a silhouette of himself on November 4; with the caption “KANYE 2024.” So we’ll see what happens in four years.
