22 People Shot at Miami Nightclub

The Miami-Dade Police Department has been very busy throughout the holiday weekend attempting to find the shooters who opened fire at a Miami nightclub. Two people were killed in the shooting, and another 20 to 25 were wounded.

Details of the Shooting

Right after midnight on early Sunday morning, a white Nissan Pathfinder pulled up on the street beside the El Mula Banquet Hall. Three people left the vehicle with assault rifles and handguns and started spraying bullets at the crowd of people outside of the building.

The shooting killed two, but the damage could have been worse, considering the attack came out of nowhere on Sunday. There could be more fatalities from the shooting because five victims were taken to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, Florida.

Two of the five people are in critical condition. The banquet hall was rented for a concert on Saturday night.

Comments from the Crowd

The entire Miami area is distraught in the wake of this shooting. The shooters, who have not been confirmed, fired at a crowd of people. This was not a targeted hit but an attempt to kill as many people as possible.

Angelica Green, a Miami resident, said her son and nephew were among the group of people shot early Sunday morning. Her son is in stable condition after being hit four times in the abdomen with bullets. He received immediate surgery and is in stable condition.

Her nephew was shot four times. One of the bullets hit him in the abdomen, and the other three caught him in the leg. The mother was distraught when she gave the media an update on her family.

She said, “He’s not a statistic. He’s a graduate from college last year. So he’s educated. He was going out with his educated cousin to just celebrate the weekend, and they had not made it into the club as of yet. They said that some guys, three guys that they noticed … they just started shooting…for whatever reason, we don’t know.”

Miami-Dade Police Asking for Help

This mass shooting did not resemble the typical violence in Miami-Dade County. The police department is asking anyone with information on the shooting for help. They need witnesses and citizens who may have inside information on the shooters.

Multiple people have been taken into custody, but there is not a lot of concrete evidence at this time.  Miami-Dade Police Department Director Alfredo Ramirez III has spoken to the media multiple times in the past few days.

After the shooting, he said, “These are cold-blooded murderers that shot indiscriminately into a crowd, and we will seek justice. My deepest condolences to the family of the victims.”

Camping World CEO Marcus Lemonis is doing his best to help the police. He is offering any person with information leading to an arrest a $100,000 reward. This hefty sum could get some people to talk that may have not if there was no money involved.

Violence has been out of control in Miami for a long time. The weekend shooting made Ramirez state, “This type of gun violence has to stop. Every weekend, it’s the same thing. This is targeted. This is definitely not random.”
