PRESIDENT BIDEN ATTENDING VIRTUAL CLIMATE SUMMIT

US President Biden declaring a cut in greenhouse gas emanations this Thursday on a virtual climate summit attended by 40 other world leaders. He looks to put the US back at the center of the worldwide effort to address the climate emergency.

President Biden accomplished the US to reduce its emanations by 50%-52% below its 2005 emanations levels. This objective is part of the Paris climate agreement that Biden rejoined since taking office.

“That’s where we’re headed as a nation, and that’s what we can do if we take action to build an economy that’s not only more prosperous but healthier, fairer and cleaner for the entire planet,” Biden said.

President Biden called on the world leaders present at the summit, particularly those who leads the world’s largest economies, to take action within their own countries to reduce emissions.

Biden focused on the potential economic impact that fighting climate change could present. His critics have described attempts to move the country away from fossil fuel. But President Biden hopes to highlight the opportunities that would come along with upgrading technology to make it cleaner.
